The Roman Conquest of Britain began in AD 43 under Emperor Claudius and continued through decades of campaigning, negotiation, revolt, and frontier consolidation. Roman forces advanced through the south and west, faced resistance from groups such as the Catuvellauni and later Boudica’s rebellion, and pushed into Wales and northern Britain. The conquest was uneven and never fully absorbed the whole island.
