Phase
Roman Britain under the Flavians
69–96 CE
Under Vespasian, Titus and Domitian, Roman armies extended control in Wales and northern Britain while roads, towns and client relationships supported provincial rule. Governors combined military campaigns with taxation and construction.
The province included legionary bases, mining districts, developing settlements and communities led by local elites who cooperated with Rome. Resistance and accommodation existed alongside one another.
The Silver Pigs, A Body in the Bath House and The Jupiter Myth use British mines, building projects and Londinium to show different stages of this provincial expansion.
