Britain, AD 25. After years of Druid training, Caratacus is recalled to Cunobeline’s court when the death of a neighbouring heir threatens the balance among British kingdoms. Roman trade and diplomacy are already influencing tribal decisions, and competing claimants see the young prince as either ally or obstacle. The succession dispute teaches Caratacus that British kingship rests on negotiation between elites as much as hereditary right.
