1763–1783 CE
The American Revolutionary Era grew from imperial taxation, colonial protest, political argument and armed conflict between Britain and thirteen colonies. It stretched from post-Seven Years’ War tensions to independence and the Treaty of Paris. The period involved soldiers, loyalists, patriots, enslaved people, Indigenous nations, women, merchants and foreign allies.
It matters because it created the United States while leaving many conflicts unresolved. Liberty, empire, slavery, loyalty and republican government all collided in ways that shaped later American history. The fiction ranges across military fiction, family sagas, spy stories and novels about divided communities.
