To Glory We Steer
First published 1968
In January 1782, Captain Richard Bolitho takes command of the frigate Phalarope in the Caribbean. The ship has been driven close to mutiny and carries a reputation for indiscipline just as Britain confronts French, Spanish and American forces in the final phase of the American Revolutionary War.
Bolitho attempts to restore the crew’s confidence while fighting enemies within and beyond the ship. His methods are tested through privateer attacks, squadron manoeuvres and the Battle of the Saintes, where the damaged Phalarope must prove that trust and discipline can be rebuilt under fire.
