Ring of Secrets (the Culper Ring)
In British-occupied New York in 1779, Winter Reeves lives among Loyalist relatives while secretly passing military information to the Patriot intelligence network associated with Robert Townsend. Her position gives her access to officers and conversations that could help Washington’s army, but discovery would mean execution. The arrival of a Continental officer seeking the spy known only by a code name complicates both her mission and her carefully concealed loyalties.
Occupied New York makes Winter's position unusually dangerous because Loyalist society provides both her cover and the information Washington needs. Messages have to move through coded names, couriers and trusted households before they reach military decision-makers. The romance therefore develops inside a system where affection itself can compromise security and where a single careless conversation may expose an entire intelligence network.
