Raider
In 1940, with Britain facing Germany largely alone, Tom Harsker and his Commandos are sent back into occupied Europe to raid, sabotage and gather experience for a new kind of warfare. Their missions depend on small forces landing quickly, striking selected targets and escaping before stronger enemy units can respond.
The widening war soon carries the section from France to North Africa after Italy enters the conflict. Different terrain and opponents require the men to adapt without losing the cohesion on which special operations depend. The novel follows the formation of Commando methods through raids conducted while Britain is still fighting defensively and searching for ways to take the war back to Axis-held territory.
