Book
King Tiger
After the fighting around Walcheren and Antwerp, Tom Harsker and several of his men expect a period away from the front when they are assigned to train other soldiers. Their respite ends abruptly in December 1944 when Hitler launches the Ardennes offensive and Allied units are forced to react to a German breakthrough that had seemed impossible so late in the war.
Tom’s small group is drawn back into combat amid confused retreats, winter weather and rapidly changing orders. The campaign confronts experienced soldiers with a different kind of battlefield, where armour and surprise can overturn carefully prepared plans. What was supposed to be a training assignment becomes another fight to prevent the German advance from splitting the Allied armies.
