The first Militaria anthology gathers original essays by members of Saul David’s Military History Club. Its subjects range from the conduct and ideals of medieval knighthood and the horse grenadiers of the late Stuart and early Georgian armies to Napoleon, Victorian weapons administration and the contested reputation of General Sir Redvers Buller.
The later essays move into the twentieth century through letters from the Pacific War, the Desert Rats during Operation Compass, the Allied invasion of southern France and the assault on the Gothic Line in Italy. The volume is not a continuous history; it is a collection of focused studies that uses individual battles, institutions and personal records to show the variety of modern military research.
