Militaria: Volume Two

Militaria: Volume Two presents nine member essays extending from the Second Crusade to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The collection examines the failure of the Second Crusade, the British assault on Cape Breton Island in 1758, Victorian proposals for a Channel Tunnel and the political and military controversy surrounding the Fourth Anglo-Ashanti War.

Twentieth-century studies consider the origins of the Defence of the Realm Act, Operation Bluecoat in Normandy, the British occupation of southern Austria after 1945 and the 8th Hussars in Korea. A concluding reflection on the Russo-Ukrainian War places current conflict beside these historical case studies, while the volume as a whole emphasises planning, logistics, law, occupation and the experience of combat.
