Lola Montez

Lola Montez, born Eliza Gilbert, was an Irish dancer and adventurer who fashioned herself as a Spanish performer. Her influence over King Ludwig I of Bavaria provoked political scandal and helped destabilise his court before the revolutions of 1848 forced both from power.
