Spanish Civil War

The Spanish Civil War was fought from 1936 to 1939 between the Republican government and Nationalist forces led by Francisco Franco. It drew international volunteers, Soviet aid, German and Italian support for Franco, and intense ideological attention across Europe. The war became a testing ground for modern bombing, propaganda and anti-fascist commitment.

Its importance lies in its role as both Spanish tragedy and prelude to World War II. The conflict divided families, destroyed towns and forced exiles across borders.
