Book
Trajan’s Hunters
The Ninth Legion moves north as unrest threatens Roman control of Britannia, drawing the elite auxiliary scouts known as the Explorates into a rebellion capable of destabilising the province. Their work requires reconnaissance and rapid movement beyond the security of established forts, where a wrong judgement about local loyalties can isolate a small unit completely.
At the same time, Livius and his comrades receive a separate order from Emperor Trajan: recover stolen gold and bring back a wanted man for punishment. The mission carries them beyond Britain into unfamiliar territory, testing skills developed on the frontier against new enemies and showing the wider imperial network that connects provincial warfare with the emperor’s political authority.
