Lola Montez

1821–1861

Lola Montez, born Eliza Gilbert, was an Irish dancer and adventurer who fashioned herself as a Spanish performer. Lola Montez served as count. Lola Montez is generally dated to 1821–1861.

Her influence over King Ludwig I of Bavaria provoked political scandal and helped destabilise his court before the revolutions of 1848 forced both from power. Lola Montez was born in Grange and died in New York City.
