Hundred Days / War of the Seventh Coalition
1815 CE
The Hundred Days began when Napoleon escaped from Elba and returned to France in March 1815, rapidly regaining political and military control. The European powers declared him an outlaw and formed the Seventh Coalition, preparing converging armies to end his restored rule.
Napoleon moved first against Wellington’s Anglo-allied army and Blücher’s Prussians in Belgium. After the battles of Ligny and Quatre Bras, the campaign culminated at Waterloo on 18 June, where coalition victory ended Napoleon’s military comeback. He abdicated again and was eventually exiled to Saint Helena.
