Ottoman-Habsburg Wars
1526–1791 CE
The Ottoman-Habsburg Wars were fought over Hungary, the Balkans and central Europe across several centuries. The struggle involved sieges, border warfare, diplomacy, raids and shifting alliances. Vienna, Buda and the Danube frontier became recurring centres of conflict.
The wars mattered because they shaped the political map between Ottoman and Habsburg power. They also created frontier societies where soldiers, traders, captives and families lived between empires. Fiction can use this world for spies, Janissaries, border lords, diplomats, prisoners and communities divided by religion and loyalty.
