Richard Fitzwarren Tudor Historical

The Richard Fitzwarren Tudor Historical series, also known as Mercenary for Hire or the Tudor Mystery Trials, follows the fictional brothers Richard and Jack Fitzwarren through the violent political and religious changes of mid-sixteenth-century England. The sequence begins with the Seymour scandal surrounding the young Princess Elizabeth, moves through Edward VI’s final years and the 1553 succession crisis, and places the brothers between Mary I’s Catholic restoration, Elizabeth’s precarious position and their own destructive family conflict.

Later books widen the action to Venice, Malta, France, Scotland and the Atlantic. Stolen weapons, the Knights Hospitaller, Edward Courtenay’s exile, the Anglo-French war, the Scottish Reformation and early Elizabethan privateering all become part of the brothers’ struggle for status and survival. The series combines dynastic politics, espionage, military adventure and family saga while repeatedly testing whether Richard’s loyalty to Elizabeth can coexist with the compromises demanded by royal service.
