Colin Falconer

Colin Falconer is a British-born Australian author of historical adventure fiction and thrillers. Born and raised in London, he began his career as an advertising copywriter before working as a journalist, magazine columnist and scriptwriter for radio and television. He became a full-time novelist at the age of thirty-five and has travelled extensively to research the landscapes and cultures featured in his books. He now lives in Australia with his wife.

Falconer’s historical novels range widely across periods and continents. When We Were Gods reimagines the life of Cleopatra, The Sultan’s Harem explores the court of Süleyman the Magnificent, and Feathered Serpent, also published as Aztec, centres on Malinche and the Spanish conquest of Mexico. Other works include Silk Road, Stigmata, Colossus and East India. His fiction combines political intrigue, romance and fast-moving adventure with settings that include ancient Egypt, medieval Europe, the Ottoman Empire, colonial India and the wider Asian world.
