Palestine, 1933. Rishou Hassan belongs to an Arab farming community whose roots in the village extend beyond memory, while Sarah Landauer is the daughter of the leader of a neighbouring Jewish settlement. Their love begins before migration, British policy and rival national movements make ordinary contact increasingly dangerous.
The story carries them toward the end of the Mandate and the war of 1948, when private allegiance can be interpreted as betrayal by either community. This edition retitles the narrative also published as Fury: Book 2 and retains its Arab-centred perspective on the same history explored from the other side in the first Fury novel.
