The Angevin Empire describes the territories controlled by Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard I, and King John, including England, Normandy, Anjou, Aquitaine, and other lands. It was not an empire in the Roman sense, but a dynastic collection of inheritances, marriages, claims, and feudal obligations. Its rulers moved across the Channel and governed a world tied to both England and France.
