Dragon’s Lair

England and Wales, July 1193. A payment collected towards Richard I’s ransom disappears while being transported through the Welsh Marches. Eleanor of Aquitaine sends Justin de Quincy to recover the missing funds and discover whether the loss was theft, treason or part of John’s campaign against the captive king.

The investigation draws Justin into Marcher rivalries, Welsh dynastic politics and the household of the young Llywelyn ap Iorwerth. Witnesses conceal competing loyalties, and the missing treasure becomes inseparable from a suspicious death and the unstable balance between English royal authority and native Welsh power.
