After past crimes return to threaten his household, Sir Alan Dale faces the possible death of his wife and the vengeance of enemies created during Robin Hood’s rise. Robin believes that the object capable of changing their fortunes is the Holy Grail, now connected to a renegade Templar and a hidden refuge in southern France.
Alan follows Robin through contested lands near the Pyrenees while Templars and old adversaries close upon them. The quest forces Alan to weigh Christian faith against the destructive certainty of men who claim to possess sacred truth. The Grail becomes at once a possible cure, a political weapon and another treasure for which Robin is willing to endanger everyone who follows him.
