Book
King of the North
First published 2023
Spring AD 777. Sigurd Hring, king of the Svear, summons the warriors of the North and demands their allegiance. Tor is bound to a Swedish lord and drawn into Sigurd’s army, while Bjarki sails to rescue a Saxon princess and swears himself to Siegfried of the Danes. The siblings’ separate oaths place them inside rival coalitions.
The dispute is settled at the legendary Battle of Brávellir, where Danes, Swedes, Goths, Saxons and Norse champions contend for supremacy. Bjarki and Tor must choose between family loyalty and the obligations that define them as warriors. The novel treats a semi-legendary Scandinavian battle as a confrontation between competing versions of kingship, honour and northern identity.
