Blood’s Campaign

Ireland, 1690. Captain Holcroft Blood serves William’s army against the forces loyal to the deposed James II. He is ordered to organise artillery for the siege of Carrickfergus and then to bring his guns south as two armies prepare to meet beside the River Boyne. The campaign turns engineering, logistics and gunpowder into instruments of dynastic and religious power.

The French agent Narrey remains Holcroft’s personal enemy and uses the confusion of war to threaten the people closest to him. Holcroft must pursue the spy through besieged towns and contested countryside while ensuring that William’s artillery is ready for the decisive battle. The trilogy concludes by linking private revenge to the larger settlement created by the Williamite victory.
