Paul Bannister is a British historical novelist and former journalist who worked for national publications in both Britain and the United States. He began writing historical fiction in 2012, drawing on the research and investigative skills developed during his reporting career. His earlier work also included international magazine journalism and investigations into unusual subjects, experiences later described in his autobiographical book Tabloid Man & the Baffling Chair of Death.

Bannister is best known for several series of military and political historical adventures. The six-volume Forgotten Emperor series, beginning with Arthur Britannicus, reimagines the world of post-Roman Britain and the legends surrounding Arthur, while the Crusader novels follow conflict, intrigue and shifting loyalties during the medieval Crusades. His Black Prince series, which opens with Storm of Arrows, is set during the Hundred Years’ War and combines battlefield action with the ambitions and rivalries of fourteenth-century Europe.
