The Queen’s Man

England, January 1193. Richard I has disappeared on his return from crusade, and rumours of his death encourage his brother John to move against the government maintained by Eleanor of Aquitaine. Justin de Quincy, an illegitimate young squire, encounters a dying messenger carrying a letter intended for the queen.

Delivering the letter brings Justin into Eleanor’s service and into an investigation whose outcome may expose a conspiracy around the absent king. Moving between Winchester, London and the royal court, he must establish the messenger’s route, identify whom he trusted and determine which political faction benefits from his death.
