Book
The Road to Rome
After crossing much of the known world, Romulus and Tarquinius reach the Roman forces in the east but are press-ganged into Caesar’s legions. They fight in Egypt and Asia Minor, where Romulus takes part in the battle of Zela and Tarquinius becomes separated from him amid the fighting around Alexandria.
In Rome, Fabiola is loved by Brutus but pursued by Mark Antony, leaving her caught between two men who are becoming bitter political enemies. Romulus and Tarquinius struggle west through war and intrigue while Fabiola tries to protect herself in the capital. Their paths finally converge as Caesar reaches the height of his power and the conspiracy against him moves towards the Ides of March.
