Caesar’s Avenger
First published 2025
Rome and Macedonia, 44–40 BCE. Caesar’s assassination leaves Mark Antony with the dead dictator’s papers, veterans and political legacy, but also with rivals who claim the right to avenge him. Octavian’s arrival turns cooperation into competition while Brutus and Cassius organise resistance in the east.
Antony, Octavian and Lepidus create the Second Triumvirate, unleash the proscriptions and defeat the Liberators at Philippi. The novel presents the avenging of Caesar as a process that destroys legal restraint, drawing Cicero, Fulvia and the families of the condemned into the personal cost of triumviral power.
