Book
Emperor’s Fate
First published 2022
Mesopotamia, AD 216–217. Caracalla invades Parthian territory while presenting himself as a new Alexander, and Silus serves close enough to the emperor to see the fear and calculation behind the performance. The campaign places the Roman army far from secure bases and exposes every faction within the command.
As Macrinus and other officers confront the danger of Caracalla’s suspicions, Silus must decide whether his duty is to guard the emperor or permit a conspiracy that may save those marked for death. The novel culminates in the historical assassination near Carrhae and the unresolved war inherited by Macrinus.
