Hannibal

As Hannibal prepares for war with Rome, the Carthaginian friends Hanno and Suni are swept out to sea, captured by pirates and sold into slavery in Italy. Suni is sent to a gladiator school, while Hanno becomes a field slave in the household of the Roman siblings Quintus and Aurelia. Their lives become entangled just as Hannibal crosses into Italy and the Second Punic War begins.

Hanno and Quintus are drawn onto opposing sides of the conflict, from Hannibal’s march towards Cannae to the Roman siege of Syracuse. Aurelia is repeatedly caught between family loyalty and her attachment to Hanno. After the fall of Syracuse, Hanno and Aurelia flee towards Spain but are shipwrecked and captured, while Quintus joins Scipio’s campaign against the Carthaginian armies controlling the peninsula.
