Book
The Fort at River’s Bend
An attempt on Arthur’s life convinces Merlyn Britannicus that the boy cannot remain safely at Camulod. He takes Arthur and a small group of companions to an abandoned Roman fort at River’s Bend, where isolation offers time for education, military training and the formation of the friendships that will support Arthur as an adult.
The refuge cannot remain separate from events beyond it. Uther’s death has destabilised Cambria, enemies are gathering against Camulod and Merlyn must decide when concealment has become more dangerous than return. Arthur’s development from protected heir to capable young commander begins to place the colony’s future directly in his hands.
