Donovan Cook

Donovan Cook was born in South Africa and raised in England. He has worked as an English tutor and has lived and travelled abroad, including time in Russia and journeys through Norway that strengthened his interest in Norse history and landscape. A long-standing fascination with Vikings, sagas and the early medieval world led him toward historical fiction, where he combines extensive reading with an emphasis on movement, combat and the bonds formed within a war band.

Cook’s Ormstunga Saga begins with Son of Anger and follows Ulf Bear-Slayer through feuds, raids and conflicts shaped by honour and revenge. He has also written novels about the formation of early English kingdoms, including the First Kingdom sequence, in which rival peoples and ambitious leaders compete for territory after the end of Roman rule.
