The Lost Queen

The Lost Queen series reimagines the political and spiritual world of sixth-century northern Britain through Languoreth, queen of Strathclyde, and her twin brother Lailoken, a warrior-seer whose story is woven into the traditions that later shaped Merlin. Across the sequence, the Brittonic kingdoms of the north face dynastic rivalry, the expansion of Anglian power and the growing influence of Christianity while older beliefs remain bound to family, landscape and kingship.

Beginning in the mid-sixth century and moving through the wars of the 570s and beyond, the novels blend historical reconstruction with Arthurian legend. Languoreth’s marriage to Rhydderch places her at the centre of royal politics, while Lailoken, Artúr and other figures connect the story to traditions later attached to Merlin and Arthur. The series develops into a broad saga of loyalty, warfare, belief and contested rule across Strathclyde, Pictland, Dál Riata and the neighbouring kingdoms of northern Britain.
