Strathclyde, AD 550. Languoreth’s life changes when Emrys Pendragon and his warriors arrive at her father’s stronghold and she forms a bond with Maelgwn, even though her family intends her for Rhydderch, heir to a Christian-aligned kingdom.
Marriage draws Languoreth into a world of dynastic obligation, shifting alliances and religious conflict. As Lailoken develops into a warrior and seer associated with the figure later remembered as Merlin, Languoreth must balance personal loyalties against the survival of her family and people. The novel carries these tensions towards the Battle of Arfderydd, blending court intrigue, romance, warfare and restrained supernatural elements with a reconstruction of the historical roots of Arthurian Britain.
