Battle of Bosworth Field

The Battle of Bosworth Field was fought in 1485 between Richard III and Henry Tudor. Richard was killed in battle, and Henry claimed the throne as Henry VII. The victory founded the Tudor dynasty and became the conventional endpoint of the main Wars of the Roses.
Bosworth matters because it turned a dynastic gamble into a regime change. It ended the last Plantagenet king’s rule and allowed the Tudors to build a new political settlement. The battle’s memory is inseparable from later arguments about Richard III, legitimacy, betrayal, and propaganda.
