Swords of the White Rose Series

The Swords of the White Rose trilogy follows Sir John Hawker, an ageing Yorkist knight burdened by past violence, after Richard III’s defeat at Bosworth. Charged with protecting Sir Giles Ellingham, Richard’s fictional illegitimate son, Hawker crosses England and continental Europe while Tudor agents, mercenaries and rival claimants pursue the surviving adherents of the White Rose.

Set between 1485 and 1487, the sequence moves from Bosworth and Venice to Wallachia, Transylvania, the Burgundian Netherlands and the Yorkist conspiracy that ends at Stoke Field. The novels combine military adventure and dynastic intrigue with Hawker’s attempt to reconcile loyalty to the Plantagenet cause with the possibility of personal redemption.
