Eagles Rising combines Augustus: Son of Rome and Augustus: Son of Caesar. The first novel follows Octavius from the news of Julius Caesar’s murder through his decision to claim the dictator’s name and political inheritance. The second concentrates on his confrontation with Mark Antony, the mobilisation of Caesar’s veterans and the alliances that transform a vulnerable heir into a contender for control of Rome.

Across both books, Marcus Agrippa provides military and personal support while Cicero, Brutus, Cassius and Cleopatra represent competing visions of the post-Caesarian world. The omnibus emphasises that Augustus’s rise was not inevitable. It required repeated compromises, propaganda and civil conflict, and each step towards stability narrowed the distance between defending Caesar’s legacy and creating a new monarchy.
