Brothers in Arms

The Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry land in Normandy on D-Day and fight as an armoured regiment through France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Tank crews operate in cramped vehicles where mechanical failure, mines and anti-tank guns can kill an entire crew before they see the enemy.

Using diaries, letters and interviews, Holland follows the regiment as a community whose replacements must learn quickly enough to survive. The campaign from Gold Beach to the end of the war reveals how tanks, infantry and engineers depend on one another, and how repeated casualties reshape the bonds between men who continue fighting together.
