Book
Death of a Heretic
Ireland, AD 672. A fire destroys the guest hostel at the abbey of Imleach Iubhair and kills Bishop Brodulf of Luxovium, a distinguished Frankish visitor. Examination of the body shows that the bishop was stabbed before the blaze began, turning an apparent accident during rebuilding work into murder.
Fidelma investigates an institution divided among teachers, students, male and female communities and the craftsmen renovating the abbey. Brodulf's disputed beliefs and royal connections have created both religious and personal enemies, and further deaths force her to penetrate a network of jealousy and deception before the factions destroy the evidence.
