Book
The Spider’s Web
A chieftain is murdered in the valley of Araglin, and a blind, deaf and mute monk is found beside the body with the apparent murder weapon. The local authorities regard the case as settled, but Fidelma doubts that a man unable to hear an approach or explain what he witnessed could have carried out the killing as alleged.
Her questions expose rivalries over land, succession and control of the valley. With Eadulf's help, Fidelma reconstructs the victim's movements and the monk's limited evidence, discovering that the accusation conceals a wider network of intimidation and betrayal.
