Blood in Eden
Ireland, AD 671. Fidelma and Eadulf reach the prosperous hamlet of Cloichín as villagers prepare to lynch a stranger for the murder of a farmer, his wife and their two sons. The accusation rests largely on his foreignness, and Fidelma intervenes to insist upon a lawful hearing.
Further bloodshed destroys the community's claim to harmony and reveals long-standing tensions among neighbours who present themselves as united. Fidelma must protect the accused while uncovering the victims' concealed disputes, showing how fear and religious intolerance allow the actual killer to direct suspicion away from the household's closest connections.
