Book
The House of Death
Ireland, AD 672. As the senior princes of Muman gather at Cashel to debate King Colgú's policies, Brother Conchobhar is murdered and the sacred sword symbolising the king's authority appears to have been the target. The killing encourages rumours that Colgú is about to be overthrown.
At the same time, a ship carrying plague reaches a nearby port and panic begins to spread through the kingdom. Fidelma, Eadulf and Enda must investigate within a court under political pressure while disease disrupts ordinary safeguards, identifying whether the murderer intends to seize a symbol, remove the king or exploit the emergency for a broader coup.
