Outlaw
After the English defeat at Hastings in 1066, Aelfraed and the remnants of his northern war band refuse to accept Norman rule. With the old Saxon leadership broken, they retreat into the forests and continue a resistance that forces them outside the law as William’s men tighten their control of the country.
Aelfraed must keep his followers together while betrayal and exhaustion become as dangerous as the Normans pursuing them. Raids and rearguard actions offer temporary victories, but each success makes the rebels more conspicuous. The struggle becomes a contest over survival, loyalty and whether resistance can endure once there is no recognised kingdom left to defend.
