Blood’s Revolution

Lieutenant Holcroft Blood returns from secret work in France to serve as an artillery officer under James II. At the Battle of Sedgemoor in 1685, his guns help destroy the rebellion led by the Duke of Monmouth, but the Bloody Assizes and the king’s increasingly authoritarian government persuade influential Protestants that another settlement must be found.
Holcroft is drawn towards the conspiracy inviting William of Orange to intervene while the French agent Narrey pursues him across England. Friendship, professional duty and religious politics pull him towards opposing sides of the coming revolution. His technical brilliance can decide battles, but it cannot tell him which king deserves his loyalty.
