Autumn 1643. Captain Innocent Stryker leaves the Royalist headquarters at Oxford with orders to recover a missing treasure needed to finance the king’s war. The trail leads towards the Scilly Isles, where isolation, difficult seas and divided local loyalties make a supposedly contained operation increasingly dangerous. A Parliamentarian agent has been sent ahead and knows enough of the plan to turn every landing place and contact into a possible trap.
