In 1643, Royalist victory at Bristol turns King Charles’s army towards Gloucester, a strategically vital Parliamentarian city whose governor, Edward Massie, is suspected of divided loyalties. Captain Innocent Stryker enters the city to learn whether Massie will surrender.
