Bleeding Land Trilogy

The Bleeding Land novels follow the Rivers family as the English Civil War divides England and turns political allegiance into a private catastrophe. Sir Francis Rivers and his children are pulled towards opposing causes after Charles I raises his standard in 1642, while the women at Sheer House confront bereavement, insecurity and the consequences of decisions made on distant roads and battlefields.

Across The Bleeding Land and Brothers’ Fury, Edmund, Tom and Bess Rivers pursue incompatible ideas of duty, justice and family loyalty. Royalist cavalry, Parliamentarian soldiers, spies and irregular fighters carry the conflict through homes as well as armies. The sequence combines military action with a family saga in which reconciliation becomes harder as grief and vengeance deepen.
