The three supplied novels progress from the last year before invasion to the Roman landings, the battle at the River Vaga and the retreat towards the Tamesas and Camulodunon. Cullen’s quests for belonging, a sacred whetstone and a cure for Aoife run beside the campaigns of Aulus Plautius and the political divisions exploited by Rome. The forthcoming The Hemlock Throne is correctly retained as book 3.
