The York King (House of York)

In 1464, Edward IV holds the English throne but has not secured the country. Lancastrian resistance in the north continues in Henry VI’s name, while Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, tries to strengthen the Yorkist regime through a French marriage alliance. Edward instead secretly marries Elizabeth Woodville, a choice that gives him a queen but humiliates Warwick and changes the distribution of influence at court.

As the Woodville family rises, mistrust spreads between Edward, Warwick and the king’s brother George, Duke of Clarence. Rebellion, shifting alliances and the restoration of Henry VI force Edward into exile and then back into England to fight for his crown again. The novel follows the political and military struggle that decides whether Yorkist rule can survive its own internal divisions.
