Storm of Steel
In 643, Beobrand travels south and becomes involved in the search for a kidnapped girl. The pursuit takes him onto the sea and into a network of piracy and slavery, far from the armies and courts that usually define his service. Storm, betrayal and violence test his war band as a rescue mission becomes a struggle to survive the whale road and return home.
Away from royal courts and formal battle lines, Beobrand is forced into a harsher maritime world where captives are treated as property and rescue depends on speed, nerve and trust within his own war band. The journey broadens the series beyond Northumbria and shows how the North Sea connected kingdoms through trade, raiding and enslavement as readily as through diplomacy.
